
ENJOYING KEFALONIA ISLAND
In the Ionian Sea, among the other exotic islands, Kefalonia stands majestically. Multiphotographed, multilingual and beloved with amazing beaches, sightseeing and graphical villages, Kefalonia is the place with the most interest which deserves more time spent.
Visited by lots of famous personalities such as Hollywood stars, Kefalonia justifies it’s fame and reputation all over the world. The island disposes a breathtaking natural scenery with lush forests and green-blue waters. The northern part of Kefalonia, which was the only place that survived from the strong earthquakes of the past, can show you the authentic old Kefalonia, offering you at the same the time, the most special beaches you ‘ve ever seen.
Kefalonia is a big island and can offer you a variety of places to visit, great food and night life. Below, there is a list with our recommendations, all places we love and consider that shouldn’t be missed.
Beaches
North:
– Emplisi and Foki beach.
Two wonderful, quiet and pebbly beaches with crystal clear waters.
Northwest:
– Myrtos beach.
One of the most famous beaches worldwide that has also been awarded with Blue Flag and should not be missed!The beach is located to Myrtos Bay near Fiscardo, at about 20 minutes drive.
– Agia Kiriaki beach near the village of Zola.
You may reach the beach driving from Fiscardo to either the village of Agkonas or from the village of Zola. There you will come across relevant signs leading to the beach.
Northeast:
– Antisamos beach, near Sami.
Antisamos has also been awarded with Blue Flag and become more famous after some scenes for the movie “Captain Corelli’s Mantolin” were shooted there.
The southern part of the Ithaca is visible by the beach.
South:
– Makris & Platis Gialos.
Both beaches are located near Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia to the southwest part of the island.
They are neighboring beaches, both very well organized, sandy, with crystal clear waters and also awarded with Blue Flag!
Restaurants
As far as food is concerned, starting with the day’s first meal, we suggest “Pick -Nick” at Antipata (next to Fiscardo) where you will find great breakfast to take away. For the rest of the day:
– Tassia’s Tavern at Fiscardo.
Tassia is one of the most famous places to eat and every year a lot of celebrities chose her to taste some of the traditional Greek food she offers!
– Lord Falcon Thai Restaurant at Fiscardo.
This is an ideal choice for those seeking diversity! Here you will find great Thai food at walking distance from Villa Galini.
– Emelisse Art Hotel Pool Restaurant (Votsalo Restaurant) at Fiscardo.
Votsalo offers refined Greek and Mediterranean dishes in beautiful surroundings.
– Foki tavern at Fiskardo.
This traditional Greek tavern is just a step away from the beach of Foki at Fiscardo and we consider it ideal for a long day at the beach.
– “To Ionio” Tavern at Magganos.
Also near Fiscardo (about 20 minutes drive), “Ionio” is one more very good choice for those loving Greek cuisine.
– Makis Tavern at Vasilikiades.
Traditional Greek flavors and very well grilled meat!
– Platanos Tavern at Assos.
Immaculate flavors of Greek cuisine!We suggest you combine this with a swim at Myrtos Beach which is nearby.
– Panormos Restaurant at Fiscardo
Immaculate flavors of Greek cuisine!
– Fish Tavern on the beach of Agia Kiriaki.
Here you will enjoy fresh seafood and delicacies along with traditional Greek salads and our traditional Greek distillate, ouzo.
Last but not least, for the best sweet flavors we suggest Melina’s Patisserie to the harbor of Fiscardo. Here you can enjoy amazing crepes, waffles and homemade sweets!
Bars
Nightlife on Kefalonia is also great! The places we consider stand out are:
– Fishbone Bar at Fiscardo is well known for its live jazz music event every Wednesday.
– Le Passage at Fiscardo & Gaita at Sami are excellent choices for great cocktails.
